    Without any doubts, you can clean IE cache from Internet Options | Delete Files | Delete all offline content (in Control Panel or Tools menu in IE).
    After the cleaning, you can check system information once again. Most probably damaged download will be gone, because Windowsupdate already downloaded and installed the item on another attempt.

    Hi kaplinb,
    Many thanks for your reply which gave me the courage to delete the unwanted item.
    I do clear the IE cache after every session - and all cookies! However, this damaged item showed in 'IE options - settings - view objects' as well as in System Information, so I deleted it from there. I then went to Windows Update, no updates were offered so you were right in that the damaged file was subsequently replaced and installed.
