    Office 2003 Service Pack 2

Can I update to this without the discs handy?? What is the Microsoft looking for? Of course I have the program installed and Microsoft SHOULD know that I am a registered user -- Microsoft Update tells me I need to Update to this -- the message sits in my Notification Area (tray). Why do I need the discs if MS already knows I am a registered owner??

    THANKS

By default, MS distrubtes Office updates as patches to the original files to minimize bandwidth usage. Therefore, the install process needs access to the original files. However, you should be able to download the 'full file' version. Go to Download details: Office 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) for more information.

If one was to leave the "Install files" on disk, the SP's and updates normally will not ask for the CD's. Also this is one method of making sure that copy that is installed is proper, it is part of the anti-piracy program.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
