Add template to New Office Document list (2000 Pre
Where should a template be placed and how is a shortcut placed in the New Office Document list? For example, Normal .dot is in Cocuments and SettingsPopApplication DataMicrosoftTemplates and Contemporary resume is in C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeTemplates1033. But how to add to the New Document List window has got me stumped.

In Word, Tools>Options>File Locations tab. Determine where the User templates are located. In Windows XP and Word 2003 for example, the default location is "Cocuments and SettingsUser_NameApplication DataMicrosoftTemplates. In Explorer, navigate to this folder and add as many new folders as you wish, naming them appropriately (eg. My Envelopes, Job Estimates, Newsletter templates, etc.) Create whatever new templates you require and save them in the appropriate folder. Now when you specify File>New... , the new folders will automatically appear and the new templates can be accessed from these folders.John
