    Norton internet secuirity 2006

i have installed norton internet security 2006, when i put my PC on it's fine but when i try to open programs it takes 3-5 minutes for the programs to open. i.e internet explorer or microsoft word. Once one program opens the rest are fine, does anyone know why there is a delay and how to fix it?

    Many thanks

Do you know how much real memory is in your PC?

Before you try to start any program, set up Task Manager's Performance tab and watch the results when you start Word or whatever. Does the CPU usage go up to 100% and stay there? If so, then click on the Processes tab, then click twice on the column header 'CPU' to see which process is using the most CPU time.

PS there are several ways to get the Task Manager up, the simplest being to right-click on a blank area of the bottom bar which has the Start button at the left, then click on Task Manager in the pop-up menu.

Not a very good combination if you're left-handed like me - trying to use press control, shift & escape all on the LHS of the keyboard is enough to dislocate something <img src=/S/ouch.gif border=0 alt=ouch width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Is Ctrl+Shift+Esc better with the right hand then? <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
