default hyperlink 'look in' field (2003)

I'dlike to change the location where the hyperlink path starts.

I have to send a number of hyperlinks weekly from the same network folder. When I choose Insert Hyperlink, the "Look In" field always defaults to the "My Documents" folder. Can I change it so it will default to the folder I seek?

Did you ever get a resolution to this, even if not from this Forum? It drives loads of our users nuts, and we'd love to know if there's a hack to change the default location from My Documents to our Network Drive.

    Thanks

The immediate short term hack is to put a folder shotcut into My Documents so that it is a double-click operation to navigate to the network.

It's odd that the dialog does not use the personal documents folder like most other Word dialogs. Hmmm...

Since I don't use Word as my mail editor, I don't know what kind of macros you can use to manipulate that dialog. From the perspective of in-Word automation, the situation does not look good. Unlike many older dialogs, "Dialogs(wdDialogInsertHyperlink)" does not provide any pre-display parameters to set up the dialog.

Thanks for the clever work-around solution.

Thanks for the workaround. Hope Outlook 2007 allows you to change the default location. Is it just me, or is it logical that people on a Network are going to want to insert Hyperlinks from a Network drive rather than My Documents?

That certainly seems logical, but unfortunately, what seems logical to end-users doesn't always seem logical to the developers. Much as I like the Office applications, they are full of illogical default settings.

Just to confuse the issue, my company maps "My Documents" to each user's user network drive, however, my work product is mostly in another location, so it still doesn't help.
