    Reminder Times (MSO 2003)

I know that if I set up an appointment with a, say 4 hour reminder, that means that the reminder will alert me 4 hours before theappointment.

But, when that reminder goes off, if I then say, re-set the reminder for 1 hour, it's not 1 hour before the appt., but one hour from right then, correct?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

    Try it using minutes in place of hours. <img src=/S/bingo.gif border=0 alt=bingo width=15 height=22>

Chuck, you might get an answer more quickly by actually TRYING it and see what happens <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> .

Maybe he set it to remind him in two weeks - we may not hear back for a while <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    John:

That I should try a *real short* time, and see... I know Leif would rather i set a 6 month or better alarm, but oh well...

But you know, it doesn't really make sense the way it works... Better if it would always work backwards, keeping it consistent with the first reminder you set...

But who am I... now, now guys...?

    Now that is cold <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

No, I think we'd rather you just spent 2 minutes logically working something out yourself rather than seeing calling for help as the easy option. Getting help with a problem or requesting advice is one thing, but asking what happens when you click on a button labelled "Remind me again.." when you could get a faster answer just by trying it yourself doesn't do yourself any favours!

I meant, what is the answer to your original question, so that from your testing, in the future other Loungers will know the answer. Sharing your knowledge is a big part of what the Lounge is about.

    John:

It IS backwards (at least to me):

Initially, reminders are set at times "prior to the actual event". When a reminder goes off, and you delay it, the new time is "from that moment forward", NOT backwards from the actual event.

Sorry for the delay. You as well, Leif. Setup and configuring my new drive caused a couple delays in connectivity.

    Regards,
    Chuck

    Re: Reminder Times (MSO 2003)

    Chuck,
I can't vouch for OL2003, but in OL2002 in the reminder popup, the drop-down for "Remind me again in " usually starts with a few items like "15 mins before start" and then moves on to options like "15 mins". The latter means '15 minutes from now' whereas the former means '15 minutes before the start time'. Note, the availability of the 'before start' options naturally depends on how much time is remaining before the actual start time: therefore if you did a test reminder 5 minutes before the start time, the only 'before start' option you would get is the really helpful "0 hours before start"! Also as far as I can tell, the only before start options you ever get are: '15 minutes', '10 minutes', '5 minutes' and '0 hours'.

    Rory:

I'll have to double-check, but I *think* the only "befor" option is 5 min...

I'll get back to you... (Still setting up hard drive, and limping along till then)...
