    drop-down on data form? (xp)

    Hi

Using Data|Validation|Settings, I've made drop-down lists for use in filling in certain fields on a spreadsheet. When I go to Data|Form to use that to do data entry, the drop downs are not available. Is it possible to make those to functions/tools interact?

    Thanks much

No. Unless you design your own customized user form and add the valid values into the user form drop down. The Data Form is built into excel and can not be modified.

Validation and the data form can work together though. If you have validation set up in the list, the user fom can be used to add a record (unfortunately without the drop downs). If a value is violated, the validation message pops up above the data form and warns the user.

No, the Data Form is an old feature of Excel that hasn't been updated to work with new features. Data Form offers only very basic capabilities.
Try John Walkenbach's free Enhanced Data Form add-in. It may not do exactly what you ask, but it does have the capability to display dropdown lists.
