SUM IF (EXCEL 2000, XP)

Have attached file, need to calculate payments outstanding. Only want to sum figures from column A (Expected) if there is a blank in the adjacent cell from column B (Outstanding). Formula to go in yellow cell F1. Trying Sumif, but must be doing something wrong. Thank you.
Many thanks for any help, much appreciated.
    Have a great day!

Re: SUM IF (EXCEL 2000, XP)

    Try this formula:

    =SUMIF(B2:B15,"",A2:A15)

The first argument is the criteria range; the middle argument is the value to look for (an empty string "") and the third argument is the range to sum.
