Assign a UDF to a new category. (Excel 2003)

    Hi,
I was convinced that a person could not assign a UDF to a new category in the Paste Function Dialog. I recall reading thai some years back. However, a client I came into contact with mensioned that he saw this on a PC where some new UDF's were categorised into newly listed categories in the dialog. The functions were apparently installed via add-in.

Can I get a verdict from the Excel Experts to find out if this is indeed possible. (Maybe things have changed in the 2003 version of Excel, and it is now possible via code in VBA to create new categories). AFAIK you could easily slot a UDF reference into an existing category like "Financial", or "Text" or "Logical" ...etc. But not get a new category reference!

    Any ideas or comments!
    Tx
    Regards,
    Rudi

I seem to recall reading something about adding categories using the old macrosheets - I will see if I can locate it.

Awesome...thx Hans. You have saved Rory from having to dig up some archive details.
I have learned another new thing. I genuinely thought it was not possible.
Its interesting to see that the old style Macro Sheets are still used to do this.

    Cheers

Hans found the article I was referring to (thanks, Hans!) though I have a suspicion (based on the MOREFUNC.XLL add-in) that there may also be a way to do this using XLLs but I would have to check MSDN to be sure and that is somewhat beyond me as I never got around to doing much with C++. Perhaps the new VSTO will make it easier in Office 12 onwards.
