Updating filepath at printout (Word 2000)

    Hi gang,
I want to update the filepath field when I print my document. I don't want to set the printing settings to update fields when printing. I only want the filepath field to update.
What is the switch I need to add to the field.
Can this switch be used for other fields (i.e. date, etc.)
    Tks

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

Why don't you want to update all fields when printing? Most Word users want fields in a printed document to be up-to-date.
As far as I know, there is no field switch that tells Word "update me when printed".
You could write a macro that updates the field, then prints the document. But that would mean that users get a macro warning each time they open the document. That is not very attractive.

Can you move this field to the document's header or footer. A filename field in the header or footer will update when you print, even if you don't have update fields at print enabled.
