Name of C drive (Windows XP)

A lady I know has somehow changed the "name" of her C drive to "kneel by the cross". She has a music CD by that name so somehow she transferred that name to the C drive. When she opens MY COMPUTER, the C drive is listed as Kneel By The Cross (C Can a simple rename process be used to get rid of the Kneel by the cross and replace it with Local Disk???

Should be OK to rename it. Just in case have her do a backup immediately before the rename.

Gee Joe, now you have scared me out of doing the renaming. I mean if I have to do a backup (just in case) then is it worth doing? And are you talking about a total drive backup?? She does not have that capability.

I can't make the decision about whether it is worth trying or not. There should not be any problem in just renaming the drive. However, I never trust anyone to do just what I tell them. So, I always recommend a backup before making system changes at that level. She certainly should have backup capability or she is running a terrible risk of losing everything at anytime. Running without backups is like do a highwire act without a net. It is great as long as there is no problem.

I agree with Joe. It shouldn't be a problem to rename the drive to whatever you want.
Joe is just recommending caution where caution is due. Better safe than sorry type of thing.

There is very little risk in doing this, and people do it all the time - like crossing the road.
