    USB 1.1 or 2.0?

    Hi,

I'm about to buy myself an external DVD writer and I've heard there are some compatibility issues with USB 1.1 ports. I have an IPC Webnote C Laptop which I bought second-hand about 18 months ago. I' m pretty sure it has USB 2.0 ports. Is there any way I can find out for sure. If anyone can help I would be grateful.

In device manager, if any of the USB host controllers are identified as "enhanced", you have USB 2.0 ports. If none of the controllers has the word "enhanced" in the description, then you have USB 1.1 ports.

I looked in the device manager and one of the USB host controllers is described as 'SiS PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller' so I guess that confirms I have USB 2.0 ports, which is excellent news. Thanks for helping me clear that one up.
