    Upload and display issues (2002)

    Hi!

I've just built my first web page in Frontpage and am using Interland.com as the host server. I used templates that in Frontpage for the background colors and formatting. When I go to upload using the ftp directions, it seems to freeze after I enter the user name and password. The program doesn't show that its not responding in taskmanager, however no further prompts come up and the it just hangs. I'm using a DSL so I wouldn't expect it to take more than a 1/2hour. I contacted Interland who had me copy the files directly into a folder. When I go to open the webpage, it opens, however none of the formatting is there nor are the pictures. The background color is white instead of grey and the only thing that seems correct is the text. I've uploaded everything that is in the Webfolder for the webpage. If I run it from Frontpage on my computer in page preview it runs fine. It looks horrid on the internet. Any help would be appreciated as I want to get this off my "to do" list and get it published!

    Thanks,
    Leesah

    Hi Dave,

Yes they are. I checked before using them and they are listed with microsoft as well.

Is your server set up to "support" Frontpage?

With some ISP you must ask and/or may need to pay extra for the extensions to be installed.

If I click on the properties for what is missing they are all looking for a /_derived file. I did a search of my computer and can't find it. Does that help?

What settings do you have when you "Publish" the web site?

I don't get this screen when I go to publish it. If I go to file/publish website - I get a prompt asking for the publish destination - where I am supposed to enter my domain name. After entering the domain name I'm told that the host / site requires a user name and password. I enter the one given to me by Interland and thats where all activity stops.

    What firewall are you running?

Have you given your firewall permission to allow FrontPage to access the internet?

    Hi Dave,

I was just getting ready to write you back. I decided to contact Interland again and spoke to a different tech who noted that the Frontpage extenstions weren't loaded under profile. It now looks great!

    Thanks,

NP! Now for what is I'm sure a very stupid question. How do I retreive the information when someone checks off that they want someone to contact them or send information?

    Thanks,

Where have you stored the returned info? In other words when setting the form properties where did you ask the form to store the results?

The information is going to Access Database Tables stored on the website.

If this hasn't been answered, you could create a page to read from the database using the Database wizard in FP. The trick is to secure the page so that others can't use it, too...
