    Speedtouch 510 V4 configuration

I have searched the web, ineffectively, looking for details on how to configure my Alcatel Speedtouch 510 V4

I have upgraded the firmware to V4.3.2.6, using the software here. This has finally enabled the strange VPN software that my employers supply to get through the firewall. Unfortunately this version has removed the GUI functionality that enables you to set the DNS domain name for the network. You get a network called lan, and all my PCs come up as Computername.lan.

There appear to be three ways to configure the Speedtouch 510.
The GUI - fairly simple to use but limited functionality
A telnet command line interface - I can't find any documentation for this in V4.3.2.6
A configuration file that can be saved, edited, and uploaded - I can't find any documentation for this at all

Does anyone have any documentation that would help me configure this thing?

    Stuart,

This site: SpeedTouch DSL has links to documentation. There are more support links at the bottom of Alcatel / Thomson SpeedTouch 510 v4 - Broadband Hardware - Whirlpool.net.au. Several links to setup and pdfs at ADSLguide: ADSL Hardware. More links to check at alcatel speedtouch 510 v4 - Google Search.

    Re: Speedtouch 510 V4 configuration

I could have sworn I looked at those sites, but I think I was trying to find out how to edit the config file at the time. Now I have decided to use the CLI it wasn't too bad.

And the syntax to set your DNS Domain name - for the next person who needs it - is

    TELNET ip-addres-of-router
    DNS SERVER CONFIG DOMAIN=domain.name

    That wasn't too hard.

    THANK YOU.
