    Win Server 2003 & Excel 2003

    Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but here goes.

I have an Excel 2003 application which is hosted on a server running Windows 2003 (and its a Terminal Services solution). My problem is, I want to have some VBA in Excel which will check whether it is still sitting on the server, if it is fine, if it isn't I want to change the way it works i.e. if a user downloaded it to their laptop it needs to work differently, but I need a check to trigger this.

My first thought was to just lookup the server host name somehow (not path info - this won't help). Does anyone know how to do this or have a better suggestion. I'm more an Excel person than windows, so please keep it simple for us beginners. Oh, and I've already tried the Excel forum, with no luck.

    Chcek out this article.

I was able to make this work by adding the API declaraion and function for NameOfComputer() in a module. You should be able to hard code a computer name checking to verify that the spreadsheet is being executed on your server.

    Hope this helps!
