    Internet Connection Sharing

    Hello,

I'm not quite sure in which section to post this because it involves two version of windows...

I have a question about configuring Internet Connection Sharing.

    Let me explain a little.

The computer that "plugs" into the internet (modem 56k) has Windows XP and is easy to configure to use ICS because of the wizards (but if you have any tips, they would be welcome).

The second computer that would be "networked" with the first one has windows 98 and I'm trying to configure it to access the net via the first computer (XP).

What needs to be configured on both computers for this to work correctly.

(I have already networked the 2 computers together to be able to share files between them)

Oh and btw, would ZoneAlarm as a firewall be a good idea instead of the windows firewall in XP ?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

    Re: Internet Connection Sharing

Have a look at Connecting Your Home or Small Office Network to the Internet. Yes, ZoneAlarm would be the better choice over the XP firewall as monitors outbound connections as well as inbound. The XP firewall only monitors inbound connections.

    Re: Internet Connection Sharing

    Hello Nicolas,

I did this a while ago myself, but I think my host PC was WindowsME, and the other was WinXP. But, that shouldn't matter.

In <post:=260,989>post 260,989</post:>, I mentioned Proxy from AnalogX. I'm unable to browse to the website at work (filters ya know), but it was a simple setup. Give it a go, if the ICS Wizard causes too many problems.
