Error Message (Win XP Home)
A friend just had a BSOD start showing up. Everytime he tries to start the computer (DELL), he gets a BSOD titled Driver_IRQL_NOT_Less_or_Equal. The Stop parameters are as follows: 0x000000D1 (0x00000014, 0x0000002, 0x00000000, 0xf9a890f8) Below this is the following: IdeChnDR.sys - address f9a890f8 base at f9a86000, Datestamp 3bd89c65
The computer never starts up - not in normal, safe or last good configuration. I have swapped out the RAM memory card and the Graphic card with no resolution.
Would a repair installation of XP be a logical next step.

Re: Error Message (Win XP Home)
The error indicates a driver issue. This "idechndr.sys" - Google Search has many links that could be checked out. If there is not a good backup of the system and the system can not be started in any mode then a repair would be a good step. If there is a good known backup then a restore from the backup might be faster.
