Numbered lists in subdocuments (Word 2002 SP3)

I'm having trouble using numbered lists in a subdocument to a master document.

I created a subdocument that contains a few numbered lists. In the first item of the numbered list, I right-click on the item and choose Restrat Numbering from the pop-up menu. So far so good.

Now I add that subdocument to a master document. Word renumbers the list as if I wanted to continue from the previous list.

Is there a way to work around this problem?

    Thanks

This appears to be a known problem. Microsoft suggests to restart the numbering from within the master document. See MSKB article WD2002: Word Unexpectedly Continues Numbered Lists Between Subdocuments.

Thanks for the info, Hans. In the end I decided to abandon the style and number the items manually, to avoid the bug!
