    Show Current Invoice (Access 97)

I am creating an invoice program for school fees. When I go to the Student, which is a combo box of all the Students, I then click on the forms "Invoice Details" button to create the invoice. It then goes to another form and enter the invoice date, and then the subform on that form is where I enter the invoice details (e.g. Elementary fees $35, Local Levy $10). The problem I'm having is when I close the Invoice Details form, and I pick that student again--and go into Invoice Details--I don't see the invoice. The only place I see it is when I look in the Invoices table. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Jennifer:
Sounds like your Details SubForm is a data entry form with Data Entry property set to yes which will always open showing a blank record.

Nope. The Data Entry property on both the Invoice Details form and subform are set on "No".

Hmmm, do you have Link Child and Link Master fields set correctly between the main and subform?

I linked it using InvID in the child and master. Is that where I went wrong? Should I use the StudID for this?

    Sounds like, maybe ... worth a try. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

It didn't work. I even went back and started again. I built the Student main form with a linked form that comes from the Invoices table. I then put a subform in the Invoices linked form to go to the Invoice Details. But I still can't see the invoices on the screen.

Re: Show Current Invoice (Access 97)

I figured it out! I had the wrong data put in the Control Source of the StudID box on the Invoices form. I had [forms]![frmInvoices by Student]![StudID] in the Control Source. So I switched it and put it in the Default Value property. I hope that's right. And I changed the Control Source to StudID. I do need that code in the Default property, right? If I don't, it doesn't work.

    Jen
