    Change user information (2003)

My colleague uses a computer that recently got a new hard drive, and the techies reinstalled all his software. Now, when he adds comments to a document, the comments all show that someone named "USAAC" wrote the comment. We fixed that problem by going to Tools > Options > User Information and replacing the meaningless acronym with his real name and initials. However, the document he was working on before he noticed the problem has a couple dozen comments that say "USAAC." Is there a way to change those comment tags, short of deleting and re-writing them?

Deleting and recreating might be the easiest way, if the number of comments is not too large. Otherwise, your colleague could save the document as a .RTF file, then open the .RTF file in Notepad (or another plain text editor) and replace all occurrences of USAAC with his moniker. Save the file, then open it in Word and save it as a Word document.

We just now tried your suggestion, and Notepad was unable to find any instances of USAAC. Oh, well...it's not that big a deal. Thanks for the tip!

If you can't find the name, search for revtbl in Notepad. The name is after that, in {curly braces;} ... don't delete the semicolon.
