Euro Sign not showing, Help missing

Two problems I have with Office 2000 SP3 on my Windows XP Home SP2 machine.
1) In none of the Office Applications the Euro Sign appears pressing 5+AltGrey (US International keyboard). In other Windows applications it works and prints alright, e.g. Outlook Express.
2) In the Word 2000 menu bar the Help menu is missing.

I have tried to fix it by Detect and Repair Excel 2000 (I needed a Help menu to do it), but no success. One other clue, the computer acts also as the server of my shared printer. When I print the Euro sign on my networked laptop, the printing on the screen is ok, but not on the shared printer. When I connect the printer directly to the laptop everything is ok. All drivers etc are up-to-date. Anybody has any idea about what could be wrong?

One more clue:
In Outlook Express, the Euro sign using 5+AltGr shows and prints correctly in the address, cc and subject bars but NOT in the main window. There just an empty square appears.

I could restore the Help menu, forgot to look at the built-in menus!

Both Alt+0128 in Excel and Ctrl+Alt+e in Words do not produce the Euro sign, so I'll go to Phil Rabichow's site you indicated. Thanks.

I now find that it actually has to do with my default Arial font. The other fonts I tested work all right. So I have to reinstall Arial from the fonts on the CD.

Actually both Arial and Times New Roman were corrupted, at least as far as the Euro sign was concerned. How that came about I haven't a clue. Anyway, I copied them from my laptop and everything is working just fine now, including printing from my laptop on the shared printer.
