    Outline toolbar (2000 sp4)

I can't get all headings to display without the paragraph text displaying in outline view. The toolbar has options to go down to level 7, and as far as I can work out is not customisable, and choosing "All headings" also shows all the main paragraph text, even though it's formatted as body text.

I have used all levels of heading down to heading 9, but that hasn't made a difference to what can be displayed.

    What's going on?

    Try this:
    - Make sure the Outlining toolbar is visible.
    - Select Tools | Customize...
    - Activate the Commands tab.
    - Select All Commands in the list of Categories on the left.
    - Scroll down to ShowHeading8.
    - Drag ShowHeading8 to the Outlining toolbar, next to the 7.
    - Drag ShowHeading9 to the Outlining toolbar.
    - Close the Customize dialog.

Thanks very much Hans, always so polite when dealing with stupid questions.

Having said that, the idea that commands should appear in all commands (not a category I'd hitherto noticed) but not in the set of commands for the relevant toolbar is, well, counterintuitive.

    I love MS.

    Cheers

Hans' solution works, but just to find out what should be happening, this is the first few lines of a document. Choosing all headings on the outline toolbar shows the body text as well as headings.

Word 2002 (XP) has improved the interface: instead of separate buttons for levels 1 through 7, there is now a dropdown list with items

    Show Level 1
    Show Level 2
    ...
    Show Level 9
    Show All Levels
