Wanted: Display 'Print to file' files on screen

I know, the subject title is a little vauge.

I have a need to reprint 1 page, out of 700 (or so) pages of batch run of renewal notices. Do a one-off in the software package doesn't meet my requirements to reprint the original notice, as a one-off will now print all outstanding charges on an account. Cancelling and re-billing service charges *would* work, but the paper trail isn't desired.

When these notices were produced, they were printed to a file, rather than directly to the printer. What I need, is a program that will read the "Print to File" printer file (it's a HP LaserJet 4200), letting me browse the information on screen, and select the 1 page I require.

    Any suggestions?

There isn't a way to convert it into a PDF, is there? I came across something once where they reckoned you could drop a prn file onto Distiller, but I've never tried it meself...

Thanks for the suggestion Leif, but no go <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>. I tried renaming to .ps (old DOS trick... didn't work), and it crashed out on me.

If it is a .PRN file, see how to read ".prn" file - Google Search for some interesting looking possibilities.

Thanks Joe - I re-searched Google just after posting my response to Leif, and found Swiftview.

It has done exactly what I wanted, sacrificing quality at a minimum (company logo isn't as sharp). For reprinting purposes, it will work wonderfully.

    Thanks for everyone's help.
