    Outlook Address List (2003)

I could use some help. Several months ago I transferred my Outlook 2000 mail and contact information to my new computer running WIndows XP and and Outlook 2003. That transfer was mostly successful in that my contact information and old mail was accessible on the new system. One thing that did not work , and I now want it fixed , is that the address list feature does not work. When I open a new mail window and click on the To: icon I get the following message.

"The address list could not be displayed. The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been removed or deleted, or you do not have permission. For information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see MIcrosoft Office help."

Other than this problem Outlook is working fine. Any suggestions or pointers to fix this problem would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Re: Outlook Address List (2003)

    John,
Thanks for the suggestion. I looked through the thread you suggested and that is territory I've been through before without success.
Here is what I found when I try and follow the three step process outlined by jscher2000:
    1) Outlook Address book is already running
    2) The "Show this folder as an e-mail address book " is checked.
    3) Here is the problem: After I click tools , and then address book I get the same error message I mentioned in my original post.

    Any additional suggestions?

    Paul

    Re: Outlook Address List (2003)

    Hans,
    YES ! this helped.
The difference from my previous attempts was the step of first REMOVING the original Outlook Address Book. Apparently it was damaged.
    It now works.
    Thanks,
    Paul
