Missing Reference (Access 2003)

I wonder if you could answer a question about Access references for me. I am working on a database that requires a reference to Microsoft Activex Data Objects Recordset 2.8 Library. It is fine and working on my computer, but when I go to open it at another site it says it has this missing reference. I have tried to browse for it in the C drive location mentioned and reconnect but it still says it is missing. Could this be because the software has not been fully installed? Or alternatively, could the reference be located on another network drive other than C drive as this business may locate their software on network drives?

I look forward to your words of wisdom.

    Regards,

    Jocelyn

Does the other PC have Access 2003 too?
If you clear the check box for the missing reference, click OK, then select Tools | References again, do you see another version of the Microsoft Activex Data Objects Recordset 2.n Library in the list? For example, my Access 2002 installation has version 2.7 instead of 2.8.

Actually my PC is 2002 and theirs is 2003 sorry I wasn't clear there. When you scan down the list of the 2003 PC it has the 2.8 reference in the list but when ticked and then closing and opening the references again it says it is still missing. My 2002 PC has both 2.7 and 2.8 ticked in the references.

    1) When you click on the reference, the lower part of the dialog will display the path and filename. Can you verify that this file actually exists?

    2) If the file exists, does the following help?

Select Start | Run... (In Windows) and type the following:

    regsvr32 "C:Program FilesCommon FilesSystemadomsador15.dll"

substituting the correct path and filename of the file from step 1)

Press Enter or click OK[/list]3) If the above doesn't help, you could try reinstalling MDAC. See Data Access and Storage Developer Center: MDAC Downloads.

    Thanks Hans,

I shall try what you have suggested. I shall let you know the outcome.

    Cheers,

    Jocelyn
