    Creating Macros (Excel 2000)

I'm having difficulty creating macros in Excel. I click ToolsMacro. After entering the Name I click Create and go directly to the Visual Basic Editor. The status bar does not say "recording" and there is no Stop Recording Toolbar.

I am obviously doing something wrong. ????

To start recording a new macro, select Tools | Macro | Record new macro..., not Tools | Macro | Macros...

    1) If you haven't customized your Excel menus:
    - Select Tools | Customize...
    - activate the Toolbars tab.
    - click on Worksheet Menu Bar.
    - click Reset... and confirm
    - click Close.

    2) If you have menu customizations that you don't want to lose:
    - Select Tools | Customize...
    - activate the Commands tab.
    - click on Tools in the list of Categories on the left.
    - locate Record new macro... in the list of Commands on the right.
    - drag it to the Tools menu, then to the Macro submenu (menus will expand when you hover the mouse pointer over them)
    - drop the item below Macros...
    - click Close.
