Clicking on link to ppt eratic results (Powerpoint 2003)

Someone forwarded an e-mail with a question. The e-mail has a link to a ppt file. Most people who click on this have it open in PowerPoint. However, some have it opening as a slide show.

All these individuals have Powerpoint 2003 loaded on their machine.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

For those seeing a show, is it opening in an Internet Explorer window using an ActiveX control? That might be controlled by the "Browse in the same window" setting for PPT files in the File Types dialog (Windows Explorer: Tools>Folder Options..., File Types tab). Just a guess.

That was a good suggestion, but unfortunately it appears to not be the issue. I have the same setting as the other person on the three PowerPoint type files, but for me it opens in PowerPoint; and for him it opens in a PowerPoint slide show.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks!!
