Checking for drive availability with IPs (WinXP/ O2003)

    Hi,

I have users in four different countries. They should all have access to a server where a set of files is placed at a specific location.
Their profiles and drives are all mapped differently, so I can not rely on a single drive letter.

Can I with the file system object or similar test for the drive availability with the unique IP instead?
    - can I use FSO for this?

In what way do they have access to the server? Could you use a UNC path (something like ServerShareFolderFile.ext)?

Could be an option - can I just use the IP as server name?

Yes. You can do something like this:

    Dim fso As New Scripting.FileSystemObject
    MsgBox fso.FolderExists("100.101.102.103MyShareMyFolder")
