    normal.dot save at shutdown (2003)

Often when I try and close Outlook I get a window that wants me to save Normal. dot. I'm perfectly happy with my old normal. dot but it won't take no for an answer. I always end up renaming the file it wants to save and save that.
    Thanks

Presumably you use Microsoft Word as your e-mail editor. Certain settings and customizations that apply to all documents are stored in Normal.dot, such as new styles, new AutoText entries (that might include signatures), new macros, and so forth. It's also possible that you made the changes in a Word document, but you opened Word first by opening an Outlook message, so the changes you are being asked to save might not be related to email at all.

I understand that. I have normal.dot set up just like I want it and I don't want to change anything. I never had this problem before. I do indeed use word as my email editor. I just want to shut outlook down without going through this exercise.
