    extend.dat (Outlook office 2003)

Every time I restart Outlook 2003 a 1kb file call extend.dat appears in the folder Cocuments and SettingsDPLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook.

I have no problems with Outlook and the only reference from Microsoft isn't relevant.

If I delete it, it reappears when I restart Outlook and contains the text below

Does anybody know what it is and how do I eliminate it?

    Thanks

    Darryl

    Re: extend.dat (Outlook office 2003)

Extend.dat contains information about installed Outlook add-ins. There is no reason to delete the file unless you have performance problems in Outlook; you can then delete the file, and as you have found, a new one will be created next time you run Outlook. You cannot prevent Outlook from creating Extend.dat.

    Thanks Hans

I've never seen it before and it puzzled me.
