    RemoveHiddenData tool oddity (Office XP)

    here's an odd one:
using Word XP SP3, under W2k Pro SP4.
we have an 8 page document; it has to fit on to 8 pages, so we reduced the height of the Footer containing the page numbers.
before we send it out externally, we used the RHD tool to clean it.
now the cleaned document is 9 pages long; the footers appear to have reverted to their default size.
when the document was being cleaned, we kept some data (couple of html links plus the footers) which RHD recommended be kept.

    anyone else come across this phenomenon? <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>

Re: RemoveHiddenData tool oddity (Office XP)

further investigation has revealed that we appear to be using an older version of the RHD tool, not the one currently available from Microsoft.
in fact, the header causes the problem. An empty paragraph is inserted in the header which is throwing the pagination out.
By simply selecting View | Header and Footer and then clicking Close on the floating Toolbar the problem rectifies itself.
