    unblock blocked messages (6.0)

    good evening,
Even though using the menu choices provided, my friend is not unable to unblock emails she wants to get. We tried going through the list of blocked names and didn't see that sender's name. Any thoughts?
    thanks for your help

What Spam blocker or email blocker are you using?
How are you trying to unblock the emails?

    Hi,
thanks for getting back to me.
I'll have to check on the spam/email blocker for sure. I'll get that info. In the meantime, I went to tools --> message rules --> Block senders list and looked at the list there. There were lots of entries but none with the name of the person I didn't want blocked. any thoughts?
    thank you

    Check out Control Panel>Internet Options>Security>
    Click on Restricted Sites>Sites.
A list will be displayed, of "off limits" sites. See if any of your problem sites are listed and delete them.
Also, while you are there, click on Trusted sites and add one of the problem site adresses there.
OK out and try to access them again.

    Hi Bob,
thanks for getting back to me.
I didn't see anything at the restricted sites page. But what's happening is that emails, rather than sites are being blocked.
In the meantime, she decided to change the email address at which she's getting messages for that company.
    any other thoughts?
    thanks again

    Re: unblock blocked messages (6.0)

Any possibility that the messages are getting blocked as spam further up the line? The ISP that I use for my home e-mail has its own spam blocker that I can set to allow, flag (i.e. prepend a warning to the message subject) or block spam sent to my account; if spam is blocked at my ISP, it never gets to my e-mail program in the first place. She could check with her ISP to see if that is the problem, and if so, whether she can change how messages to her account are handled.

    Re: unblock blocked messages (6.0)

    Hi Marie,
Dmartin has a worthwhile suggestion regarding ISP email blocking. It could well be the ISP that is doing the blocking.
I went through this terrible hassle with Verizon some time ago. ( don't get me started about that episode ) <img src=/S/bummer.gif border=0 alt=bummer width=15 height=15>

They just decided to implement their own choice of site blocking without any consideration of the fact that people DO have certain sites, that are NOT Spam generators, and they want them allowed, thank you.

Do contact your ISP and ask about blocking on their end of the line. If it IS Verizon, let me know and I can steer you to a place where you can "whitelist" any site that they may be blocking.
