Open dialogue boxes (Windows XP - home)

When I try to open Word attachment to an e-mail, I get the following message - "The command cannot be performed because a dialogue box is open. Click OK and then close open dialogue box to continue". Does anyone have suggestions about how I resolve?

I am going to move this post to the Word forum as it doesn't sound like a Windows XP issue.

My guess is that you have a Word global template, or other add in, that has an event for when a document opens, and doesn't do the "right thing" when opening a document from within email.

Do you still get this error if Word is already running when you try to open the attachment?
Try following the directions in <post:=197,827>post 197,827</post:> to see if you can identify the cause.

This sounds similar to a problem with Norton's Anti-virus. Does this thread help <post:=508,725>post 508,725</post:>?
