Strickthrough text (2003)

Loungers,
I want to be able to apply strikethrough and grey out a row of text based on a value (ie where competed = Yes -say in A9) in the row and undo the formatting back to normal if value changes to back to No
I hope that makes sence

Any thoughts?

Hi Dean,

You can do this with Excel's Conditional Formatting feature. For example, say the value you want to test is in A1, and the cell to strikeout (or not) is B1. In that case, you'd:
. select B1
. choose Format|Conditional Formatting
. choose 'Formula is'
. type =A1="Yes" into the formula box
. choose Format|Font
. check the 'strikethrough' effect

You can add the conditional grey background via Format|Patterns

Cheers

If you are going to apply this to multiple cells in the row and multiple rows, you need to select all of the cells and then the formula would be:

=$A1="Yes"
