Re: Switch not working to open database (2000)

Are you sure you want your user/password combination to be in your post, for everyone to read?

Does the database open correctly when you type exactly the same password in the Logon dialog? Keep in mind that passwords are case-sensitive.

Re: Switch not working to open database (2000)

For some odd reason it does not accept my password any more!
Yet l have not changed it.
If l just click on 'OK' without entering a password it tends to work fine.
Any ideas as to how l can open the database automatically?

Re: Switch not working to open database (2000)

First try setting a new password for the jjr user, then substitute that password in the command line.

    If that does not work:

Information about users and passwords etc. is kept in a workgroup information file, that is a file with extension .mdw.
If you have used a special .mdw file for securing the database, you should specify it in the target of the shortcut:

    "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeMSACCESS.EXE" "O:GenHUMSProject Database.mdb" /wrkgrp "O:GenHYMSProtected.mdw" /user xxx /pwd xxxx

of course with the correct path and filename of the .mdw file substituted.

I use an mda and not an mdw file. I have used the correct path as you specified but still it does not work.
i.e it does not accept my password still.

Re: Switch not working to open database (2000)

I managed to resolve this issue by leaving the password switch off at the end.
    This resovled the problem.
Please can you now close this thread, thanks.

Re: Switch not working to open database (2000)

Apparently, your password has been cleared. This means that anyone can now log on to the database with your username.

Note: Access 2 used a .mda file to hold workgroup information. Since Access 95, workgroup files have been .mdw files, so your .mda file must be really old...
