    No Prefetch Folder (XP Home/SP2)

Hope someone can solve this mystery. Why don't I have a prefetch folder in the C:Windows directory and
how can I get it back?
My computer specs are XP Home / SP2 - all updates. I run virus, spy scans twice a week. I did a
Run sfc /scannow and the computer asked for the CD - so I put it in. I guess it copied whatever files that it
needed, but still no prefetch folder. I also did a search, but no luck.
I've attacted a pic of the files from O to R in c:Windows, so you can see that I have no prefetch folder.
    Hope someone can help.
    Thanks.

Have you attempted to control the Prefetch settings via the registry?

No, I haven't tried to do anything re: prefetch in the registry. Can you please give me step-by-step instructions?
One question though...if I don't have the folder itself, why would there be a recreation of the folder via the registry?

    Thanks.

According to this newsgroup posting, you need to have the Task Scheduler running to get the Prefetch folder created.
