Blank page between Sections (Print Preview Mode) (WordXP)

I was wondering why in the attached document, there are blank pages between the sections (in Print Preview mode)?

This document has a similar page setup, but there are no blank pages.

My guess is that the section breaks have become corrupt, but how is not clear to me. By turning off Different Odd and Even, for example, you reduce the document to 3 pages.

Hi. In this case, it is unlikely that the section breaks are corrupt. The blank page occurs in every document based on that template, so I expect there is some setting in the document that is forcing the blank page.

If I turn off "Different Odd and Even" then I lose the alignment of the page numbers in the footers.

    I just found a solution.

By pasting all the text from the document into a normal template, the blank pages disappear.

This suggests that there is a document property that causes the blank pages, but I don't know where it is set.

One thing that troubles me about that first document... my mouse does not seem to work normally after returning to Normal view from Print Preview. If I select all using Ctrl+A and then click in the document, I do not get an insertion point. Word seems to ignore double-clicking of text as well. It is almost as if there is some odd type of protection applied, but I can't pin down what it is.

Does it have anything to do with Line Numbering which is turned on for the last section of your problem document but not turned on in the other sample. I noted that turning it off didn't solve the issue but it does seem odd. Pasting into another document would apply a different page setup to the last section so perhaps this is why it solves the problem for you.

Hi. I had thought of that. However, when I paste it into a blank document the line number remains.....

In that case, I'm with Hans - there is some kind of corruption in the file that I can't explain. Saving out to RTF doesn't solve it either. I would recreate the template and try your luck with a new one.
