Stop Outlook from deleting messages (2k)

Hi, a girl at work was asking me how i stop outlook from deleting my 3 month old messages... and my reply was "outlook deletes your old messages?!?!" <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15> i wouldn't know because i put my mail each month into a saved folder since my inbox gets too big anyway for my company limit. so i have 2 questions:

1 - Does outlook delete your emails after 3 months??

2 - if yes, how do you disable that?

    Thanks,

Oultook has an AutoArchive option. You can set general autoarchive options in Tools | Options...: activate the Other tab and click AutoArchive...

You can set specific options for each folder by right-clicking the folder, selecting Properties from the popup menu and activating the AutoArchive tab. See screenshot below.

If you're on a network, there may be a policy enforcing autoarchive.

It sounds as if your company has two ways of keeping the e-mail storage space on the server low: not delivering messages if you go over your Inbox limit and deleting all messages > 3 months old. From what you say, you store your wanted messages in a PST on your hard drive - or in your designated private netwrok storage area. Have you suggested to your colleague that she do the same? HTH

If the AutoArchive section isn't present, it is quite possible that the IT department has a) enforced autoarchive and taken away the ability to change its settings.
