    Word HTML email template (2K3)

This appears on the surface to be an Outlook issue, but then again it could be Word...so please move if required.

I was provided with an email template produced in Word and then saved as HTML to be used as an email template from our Service Desk. Now it appears that the SD Manager had been "reusing" this template from old messages and then resending it. He had various problems with it as the person who created it had put spurious links in it and they were being picked up by our proxy server as it was trying to link to external sites.

I got hold of it and decided to clean up the html etc. I then placed it in his Oultook templates folder so that he could run it when required. Here is my problem. If I run the document externally to Outlook the formatting of the title is fine (36pt white font) but if I run the template from within Outlook the title heading drops to 2pt and defaults to black <img src=/S/nuts.gif border=0 alt=nuts width=15 height=15>

So is this a known Outlook or Word HTML problem. I was thinking I may have got a bit overzealous with the cleaning up of the code...any ideas why?

Re: Word HTML email template (2K3)

    OK

I will answer my own post here as I believe I have found the various reasons.

    1) The Word HTML had created a loud of nested and orphaned tags (mainly <td> and /td>
    2) If stored as a template from stationery picker when it opens in an email body the font colours default to the email editors font colour.
    3) The was a company logo in the template ( defined as a font), it appears that the HTML part of it bulked at this and did not like and therefore failed to read it

    Work around

As we are on an exchange server I saved the template in a public folder for the various operators to access and it appears now to work happily if opened from that folder and not via the picker
