I need to buy a CD-RW for my machine. it is HP Compaq d330DT and I use Windows 2000 operating system. Will any internal CD-RW be compatible with my machine?

I'm not familiar with the CASE of that model, but if it has a full-size external bay (commonly called 5 1/4 inch, I believe) the answer should be yes, any drive will fit. If you model machine does not have such an external bay visible, it may take a "custom" drive, in other words more money... <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

I have also worked on some cases that used to be supplied by Gateway that, in spite of the availability of the full-size bay, there was a stud of some kind in the wall of the case that would prevent insertion of a "normal" 5 1/4" device (too long). You should probably take the cover off to take a look before you rush out to buy a drive.

This is the closest I could come in a quick search, but if this graphic is like your machine, it looks like you'll be OK. HP Compaq D330 Desktop

Just be sure that if you need drivers that there are Win2k drivers available. That is not always the case as Win2k was much more limited in hardware support than the consumer oriented MS operating systems.
