Validating links WITHIN a web site

Are there any, preferably free, tools that will search a tree of files and determine whether all links are valid WITHIN the tree?

In this case, all links are supposed to point only to files within the tree.

I haven't had time to sift through it properly, but a search on Google for "html link check" threw up <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.stars.com/Tutorial/HTML/Validation/Links.html>this site</A> which seems to be a compilation of what is available.
Some appear to have free trials which may be useful if it's just a one-off job. . .

    Thanx.

    Dr. Watson looks very useful.

I also downloaded <A target="_blank" HREF=http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html>http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html</A>, but have not yet tried it.
