Vlookup with true setting (Excel XP)

I need some advise on the vlookup function. I have a list of email addresses Col A and need a close match to a list of names Col E. I've tried the vlookup function with the true setting but the problem is that if it should show N/A it shows the previous cell's value

You can't use VLOOKUP for this, it doesn't look at parts of cell values, only at whole cells. Try this formula.

=INDEX($E$3:$E$7,MATCH(FALSE,ISERROR(FIND($E$3:$E$ 7,A3)),0))

It's an array formula, i.e. confirm with Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
