Open executable for editing (VStudio 2005)

    Hi!
I am using third party system and i am creating Reports and inserting them into the system.
Some of canned Reports that came with a system run by .exe file that opens up .net and store procedure will create Report.
I need to alter code sometimes. So I installed Visual Studio and trying to open up .exe file to get into code and find and correct few minor things.
How do I open executable? Thanks

When you create a .exe file, the compiler takes the text of the source code and converts it to binary machine code (more or less). The original source code is not present in the compiled program, so it is not possible to view or edit the source code.

Apart from that, the license for the third party system probably doesn't allow you to modify the program.

You could contact the manufacturer/developer of the third party application to see if they're willing to modify it for you.
