    Runtime Error (Word 2002 w/SP3)

I'm back, with the worse problem I have ever encountered....Hope someone has some ideas.
After a crash word opened with a runtime error, offers to start in safe mode...
    Indicates abnormal program termination.....
After opening in safe mode, can edit, open save ect. cannot address options...

My solution, remove word and then reload....still opens with runtime error message....
Second solution - remove Office and reinstall....still opens with runtime error message.....
Did run Registry Mechanic in hopes of cleaning out problem entries before reloading.....
Computer only 1 month old, duplicates programs on my portable......
I now use OpenOffice to open the .doc files...............

    What Now......

Try Phil Rabichow's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word (97/2000),197827>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word (97/2000)<!/post>.

Re: Runtime Error (Word 2002 w/SP3)

    Problem Solved...at least part way.

Thanks for pointing me to the Systematic Approach.....
I started with step 2 which did not run but doggedly I renamed Normal.Dot anyway (which should not have solved the problem as the run command winword.exe /a would not run).
As soon as Normal dot was renamed, no more problems......
    Now to re-establish Normal.Dot....

    Again Thanks <img src=/S/bananas.gif border=0 alt=bananas width=33 height=35>
