Search key was not found error

I have a problem with a record in my DB. The text "went funny" (ie: lines and boxes, not a readable font) and when I try to delete it it gives me an error that "the search key was not found in any record" and it doesn't allow me to delete the record. I also can't change the record.

I would like to completely delete that record and start again if possible.

If soemone can help me out, I would be forever grateful :-)

    Thanks,

    Joe

What I would do is to copy all records, except the bad one in that table to a new table . Then delete the old table and rename the new table to the old table's name.

Before you do anything, BACKUP your database.

Alternatively, you can try the free Jetcomp utility from Microsoft. If it succeeds, the corrupt fields will be converted to a series of # characters, and you will be able to delete the problem record.

See Jet compact utility is available in download center.

Thanks to you both for your help. Jetcomp did the trick.

    I can breathe again.
