    Cannot Sign On

I signed onto Myspace.com to reach my Step Daughter..it allowed me in for 2 days and now I cannot log on, and yet she is trying to reach me. I can see the e-mails coming through my personal e-mail address. I have tried deleting temp Internet files and Cookies...plus they asked me to lower my Security Settings.
    I think..
Also I am on Match.com, paid $120.00 for it, and cannot sign on there either. Says I need to enable Cookies, and that I do not have Java Script!
What have I done wrong, and how can I fix all of this! I need someone to walk this beginner through the steps necessary to get it done without screwing more up!
    HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

    Re: Cannot Sign On

Usually when something changes, it is related to new software being introduced into your environment, or changes to the settings of your existing software.

For example, Norton Internet Security includes a privacy program that blocks certain information from leaving your computer. If you have recently made any changes there, you could try adding these two web sites to the list of trusted sites.

In Internet Explorer, you can partially control the way a site runs by putting it in a special zone. When you visit MySpace.com or Match.com, does the browser show a globe and the Word Internet on the lower right corner of the status bar? If it says Restricted instead, try double-clicking there and changing the zone for this site to Internet. Does that help?

In Internet Explorer, you can manage your cookies using general settings or site-by-site settings. If you check here, what do you see?

Tools > Internet Options..., Privacy tab, Settings section

Mine says "Custom" - Advanced or imported settings, and shows a Sites... button. This lets me block cookies from certain sites.

I don't remember whether IE includes a feature to clean up your cookies between sessions, but there are other programs that do this. If you are using any of these programs, your login information may be cleared every time you close IE.

Those are some general ideas. When you poke around in your IE settings and other security software, do you see anything that seems as though it might help?

    Re: Cannot Sign On

Thank you sooo much! I did go into Internet Options and had to add these two sites..still nothing worked, so I took another persons advice, and restored my computer back to a safe date when i was able to sign on and this worked....HOWEVER....when i went to Log Off and Shut Down my computer last night, I was getting a message that there were 10 updates SBC wanted or needed to install or update on the computer. Because of my fear that if they did anything I wouln't get back into these sites, and wanted to discuss with you first, I ended the program and shut it off.
Well, this morning it ran those updates without prompting me, and now I am locked out of those two sites again! I checked to see if they were still showing as allowed sites, and they both are. I really don't know what else to try. It is like the Security, JavaScript, Cookies and such are all being affected by these updates that SBC insists on running!
    So what now?
I have an e machines computer, with Windows XP, Using SBC Yahoo as my main home page....is there anything more you need to now to better assist me?

    Re: Cannot Sign On

It appears that it is a "SBC Yahoo " problem.
I would contact them, since they are providing "One does it all" protection.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I think you might want to contact SBC/Yahoo about this. Or if you can find somewhere on their web site where they explain what these "updates" are. I assume they are different than Windows updates, but I really have no idea.

    Re: Cannot Sign On

Is SBC you Internet Service Provider ??? They seem to have joind forces with a number of other companies to provide various telephone and internet services under a variety of different names.

It sounds like your problem is related to those updates. I'll bet if you do another System Restore to yesterday, before the updates were most recently applied that the problem will go away until SBC runs the updates again when you reboot. <img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15> I would contact SBC, in whatever form you are using and ask them to resolve what is obviously a problem being created by their updates.

    Re: Cannot Sign On

Well, thanks to all...but restoring back to an earlier date, when I knew all was right with the world, is exactly what i did and IT WORKED!
Yes they have merged most recently with AT&T, and all the sudden they are forcing updates on you that you cannot read or prevent. Since my assertive call to them, it has miraculously stopped happening!
Thanks to all who took the time to help! Restoring is a blessing! <img src=/S/compute.gif border=0 alt=compute width=40 height=20> Now I am a happy girl!
