    locating GPS s/w

My company has me on assignment where English is not the first language. I have rec'd a GPS enabled Pocket PC but, so far, have been unable to locate any GPS s/w :-(

I have checked numerous "computer stores" and even a local cell phone company to no avail.

Right now I need map(s/w) for Israel, Egypt, and Jordan and will eventually need map(s/w) for the DC area and East Coast.

Please advise and know of my gratitude in advance.

    Scott,
I tried a Google on "gps pocket pc" and came up with a few sites that feature Pocket sized gps software. I did not read the sites too much, and I'm not as lucky as you (No GPS for my pocket pc!).

    Hope these help.

Thanks, Errol...yes, I tried Google myself and found way too many options :-(
I was hoping the folks here knew of s/w and maybe even had some experience with it.

FWIW, so far, I've found www.navngo.co.il (all in Hebrew) but poked around until I found some e-mail addresses. A shop near Jerusalem can put Nav n' Go on a mini SD (or so they say).

    Thanks for the tip!

I have used TomTom and Pocket CoPilot extensively. They are both really good products, but neither of them seems to have map coverage for the Middle East.

    Scott,
I did a bit of poking on the Google listing for "PocketPC GPS and Navigation", and got to gpsinformation.net, which seems to be a bit more updated, and has many links to more detailed information. Hope this helps.

As for GPS/mapping software street maps of the Middle East, I believe several GPSs or the software might have the ability to work with user-built maps. <img src=/S/whisper.gif border=0 alt=whisper width=29 height=17>Disclaimer: This is just a guess on my part. I looked into it a few years ago and haven't done anything like that since.

Thanks, Stuart... I've heard good things about those programs, and I may be set up with Microsoft Streets & Trips for the US.

I'm using a Poz x-315 and finally found that English site.

Do you know from experience if any of the TomTom products for the US come on a mini SD card?

That looks like a good site, Errol. Thanks!

I think I may have some Israeli s/w soon and hope to find similar types for Jordan and Egypt. Thanks for digging for me :-)

The European TomTom software comes on a set of CDs. When you install it you can copy the maps to any type of card that you have. I assume the US version is the same.
