Disappearing borders and graphics (Publisher 2003 (11.6565.6568) SP2)

This may be a complete newbie question, so forgive me. Last week I created a leaflet in Publisher. Today the guidelines around each object have disappeared, and the images are invisible. When I click on an object I get the resizing handles, but no borders, and for images, the resizing handles and no picture. It's extremely odd, and I can't think what I could have done to cause this to happen.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this phenomenon?

    Thanks,

    Davd

    Hi!

There is a thread starting with <post:=545,344>post 545,344</post:> that has a few suggestions about disappearing clip art. Would any of this help? <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Thanks, but I am afraid that I have already checked all the suggestions you made in the earlier thread and nothing has worked for me either. It's very frustrating.

If these graphics are linked (rather than embedded), it's possible that the links have been broken. According to Publisher Help, Tools>Graphics Manager. When the Graphics Manager pane opens (Display Options section), in the Show option, select Missing/modified pictures. In the Select a Picture section, click the arrow next to the appropriate picture and then click Find the Linked Picture. In the Link to Picture dialogue box, click the appropriate picture. If you don't see it, you may have to browse the drive or other folders to find it. When you find it, click Link to File.

Thanks for your suggestions. I created a new publication, copied-and-pasted the text and graphics, and all the graphics and object boundaries appear as I would have expected them to. I can use SHIFT+CTRL+O to toggle borders on and off. That key combination has no effect in the original document.

    Very odd indeed.

Just for completeness, here's the solution:

It was a hardware problem, to be precise, it was the problem of having a new computer with an old monitor. I reduced the Hardware Acceleration setting on my monitor properties, and all my missing borders and graphics miraculously reappeared.
