    Login to Hotmail continuously

I don't know if this is the right forum but here goes.
I login to Hotmail then select the Mail tab and it asks me to login again. This is continuous.

System could be down momentarily, or perhaps you are blocking cookies? Which browser are you using? Any firewall/privacy software?

    Re: Login to Hotmail continuously

This has been happening for at least a month now.

    Browser is IE6.

How do I check if I'm blocking cookies? How would I check for firewall/privacy software?

    I have Vet antivirus.

Cookies: in Internet Explorer, select Tools | Internet Options...
    Activate the Privacy tab.
Click Advanced to see the general settings, and click Sites to see the list of specific sites that have been blocked or allowed.

Unless you're running Windows XP's built-in firewall (configurable through the Security Center control panel), your firewall will have its own interface.

It looks like I'm running both Windows firewall and Vet firewall.

Do you think I should turn off Windows firewall and see how it goes?

You should never run two firewalls simultaneously - that can easily lead to conflicts. Try turning off the Windows firewall.

A good third party firewall should turn off the Windows firewall when it gets started on startup.
Are you sure that this is NOT happening with yours?

It doesn't seem to be as I have been into both Windows Security and Vet Security and they are both turned on, or at least I think they are. I have included the Vet security page.

You can check the Windows Firewall control panel to see if it is active.

I use Zone Alarm which I think that E Trust is based on. It shuts down Windows Firewall when ZA gets started. This protects the machine during BOOT UP until the start of ZA. This feature was added to Windows XP SP2, but the third party firewall must be SP2 compliant.

I am enclosing the Windows Security page to show that it is on as well.

Should I turn off Windows Firewall?

Take a look at the drop down list on the right of the word "ON", and you should see a statement that Etrust is on and..........

This only proves that a firewall is on, not necessarily the Windows one. Do as Dave says, or click on the Windows Firewall icon near the bottom.

I have opened that up. I have included a snapshot of this. It doesn't explicitly say "another" firewall is on. Do I presume that it is?

    Re: Login to Hotmail continuously

    Hi Hans,

I clicked on the Windows Firewall icon near the bottom and this shows me that the Windows firewall is NOT running, am I right?

If I sound a trifle paranoid about this, you are absolutely right.
