    Suggested file name (2003)

When saving a new document, Word usually creates a suggested file name from the first heading it finds in the file. Does anyone know how to access this suggested file name from VBA?

If at first you do succeed, you've probably missed something.

    Re: Suggested file name (2003)

When a new document is about to be saved for the first time, Word first looks if the user has set a value for Title in File | Properties... If so, it uses that as suggested name, otherwise the first sentence in the document (abbreviated if necessary). I don't think this is stored anywhere, so you'll have to do the same.
If you want to set the suggested file name, see How to set the default suggested filename to be displayed by the Save As dialog the first time a user saves a new document on the Word MVP site.
